Therapeutic Intensives and Retreats
For clients who can't sustain a regular weekly schedule, or who want to do concentrated work in a shorter timeframe, we offer therapeutic intensives: multi-session engagements delivered over consecutive days, either remotely or in person in West Cork. The same clinical depth as long-term work, structured differently.
Intensives suit individuals navigating a specific crisis or transition, those with demanding professional schedules, and international clients for whom weekly sessions aren't practical. They are not a shortcut. They're a different container for the same quality of work.
The Compass Project also designs and delivers bespoke psychological retreats and nature-based therapeutic programmes, including surf therapy and wilderness therapy in the West Cork environment. These are clinically structured interventions. The therapeutic architecture is built into the programme itself, not added afterwards as a framing device.
Consultation, Supervision and Training
We consult to organisations on the psychological dimensions of team dynamics, leadership, service design and organisational change. We have particular experience in healthcare settings and in supporting teams carrying complex or high-risk work, where the psychological demands on staff are often underestimated and underaddressed.
Clinical supervision is available to qualified psychologists, psychotherapists and other mental health practitioners. We supervise from a psychodynamic base, which means we're interested in what the clinical material stirs up in the practitioner as much as in the technical management of cases. Supervision is available remotely or in person.
We provide training for clinical and non-clinical staff teams on trauma-informed practice, working with complex presentations and the clinical application of nature-based approaches. Training is designed around the specific audience and context.

The Compass Project works with clients throughout Ireland and internationally. In-person work is arranged on request.
The Compass Project doesn't offer a standard therapy service. What we offer is depth, expertise and flexibility of form. The work takes different shapes depending on what a person actually needs, rather than what fits a particular delivery model.
This is the core of what we do. Our orientation is psychodynamic, meaning we're interested in the patterns, relationships and earlier experiences that shape how difficulties show up in a person's life now. We work with adults navigating complex trauma, longstanding relational difficulties, questions of identity and meaning, depression and anxiety that haven't responded to shorter approaches, and the particular pressures that accompany demanding professional lives.
We draw on other evidence-based models where they serve a particular person better, including CBT, EMDR and Narrative Exposure Therapy. We don't apply a single model to every presentation. What guides the work is an understanding of the person in front of us, not fidelity to a method.
Long-term work isn’t always what someone wants or needs. But for those seeking change that’s more than symptomatic, more than surface level, it’s the most effective option we know.
